I’ve decided to step back from traditional social media and host my content myself. For me, it comes down to wanting more control and privacy—I’d rather not worry about who’s collecting my data or how it’s being used and everyone is doing that more than ever these days.
On top of that, I realized social media just wasn’t a healthy space for me. The endless stream of algorithm-driven content felt more distracting than enjoyable, and short-form videos kept pulling me in without giving much back. I know plenty of people enjoy it, but for me, it ended up eating time in ways that didn’t match what I actually wanted. And now with all the AI-generated “slop” on the horizon, I’m even less interested.
Since I was already experimenting with servers as a hobby, moving my content to my own setup felt like a natural fit. It’s been a chance to learn, share on my own terms, and build something that feels like mine from start to finish. So yeah, I’m going back to rolling my own. Queue up some early 90’s background music followed by a drumroll. Welcome to my website!
